A motorcycle checklist is a quick pre-ride inspection riders run before every trip, walking through tires, controls, lights, oil, chassis and stands plus protective gear. It catches loose, worn or failing parts before they become a hazard at speed, taking only a few minutes once it becomes a habit.

This list follows the widely used T-CLOCS structure — Tires and wheels, Controls, Lights and electrics, Oil and fluids, Chassis, and Stands. It is a safety supplement, not a replacement for the maintenance described in your owner's manual or for work by a qualified mechanic.

It suits new and experienced riders on any street motorcycle or scooter, and a few items also apply to dual-sport and touring bikes. Run it cold before the first ride of the day and check the basics again after long stops.

Print it or download the PDF and keep it in the garage so you can tick off each group before you roll out.

FAQ

What does T-CLOCS stand for?

Tires and wheels, Controls, Lights and electrics, Oil and other fluids, Chassis, and Stands. It is a memory aid that organizes a complete pre-ride inspection so you cover every major system in the same order each time.

How often should I do a pre-ride check?

Run the full check before the first ride of the day and a quick glance at tires, controls and lights after long stops. A complete inspection takes only a few minutes once it is routine and can prevent a roadside breakdown or crash.

What gear should I check before riding?

Confirm your helmet fits and is undamaged, and wear over-the-ankle boots, gloves, eye protection and abrasion-resistant clothing. Inspect zippers, armor and straps so gear stays in place if you go down.

Does this replace regular servicing?

No. A pre-ride check finds immediate problems but does not replace the scheduled maintenance in your owner's manual or repairs by a qualified mechanic. Use both together to stay safe.

Can I print this motorcycle checklist?

Yes. Print it or download the PDF so you can keep it in the garage and tick off tires, controls, lights, oil, chassis, stands and gear before each ride.
